Darryl Pugh to Present Concert of
Contemporary Acoustic Bass Music

Hamilton, NY — A program titled ‘Contemporary music with bass in mind’ will be presented by Darryl Pugh, teacher of bass at ÏãÃÛÓ°ÊÓ, on Tuesday, February 29 at noon in ÏãÃÛÓ°ÊÓ Memorial Chapel. The works are all modern double bass pieces in an acoustic environment, dating from the last quarter of the 20th century. A light lunch will be available at this free concert, open to the public. The program will feature two works by New York City composer Charles Wuorinen, one written for bass, violin and congas, and the other, a trio written for bass instruments ‘ tuba, bass trombone, and double bass. The second half of the hour-long program will feature works by Toronto-based composer John Weinzweig and by Karlheinz Stockhausen.

Guest performers include ÏãÃÛÓ°ÊÓ Professor of Music Laura Klugherz (violin), Robert Bridge (congas), Frederick Boyd (trombone), and David Unland (tuba).
